Three large Australian opalized seashells* with a green flashfire are cut into freeform teardrop shapes and set in the center of this sterling silver necklace.  The opals are mounted on sterling silver pads and attached to a sterling silver cable chain. The stones are handcut by local artisan, Bruce London. The triple opal centerpiece is approximately 1 3/8 inches (3.6 cm) long by 7/8 inches (2.1 cm) tall and each opal is backed with a black epoxy.  The necklace overall is approximately 19 inches long with a lobster clasp.

Looking for a different length?  It is possible for the necklace to be shortened.  If you would like us to size it, please give us a call at 508-240-3608 before placing your order.

Caring for the Opals:  Avoid exposing the opal to sharp temperature changes and be sure to remove opal jewelry before bathing or swimming.  When storing your opals, avoid low humidity environments like safety deposit boxes as this will potentially cause your opals to dry out and crack.

*What are opalized seashells?  Essentially they are ancient shells that as they turned to fossils while buried in the sand, their environment transformed them into opals.  Over 100 million years ago, the Eromanga Sea covered much of inland Australia.  Many fossils are found in these ancient beds today, including opalized seashells.
